<br />SESSION 1550 <br /> <br />MINOl'ES OF '!HE UNIVERSITY CITY CXXJNCIL <br /> <br />July 8, 1991 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City council of University City, held in the As- <br />sembly Room of city Hall on Monday, July 8, 1991, Mayor Janet Majerus presid- <br />ed and called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, <br />the following members of the council were present: <br /> <br />Mr. Byron R. Price <br />Mr. Jose};il L. Adams, Jr. <br />Mr. :Robert G. Wagner <br />Mrs. Mary. V. SChmnan <br />Mr. Paul E. SChoamer <br />Mrs. Betty L. 'lhc:m:pson* <br /> <br />*Mrs. 'lhornpson left the meeting at 8:01 p.m. <br />Also present was city Manager Frank Ollendorff. <br />MINUI'ES <br /> <br />May 22. 1991 . <br />Mr. Adams moved that the minutes of the May 22, 1991 budget study meeting be <br />approved as submitted. Mr. Pri.ce seconjed the JlK)tion, and all voted Aye. <br /> <br />Mav 20. 1991 <br />Mr. Adams moved approval of the minutes of the regular meeting of May 20, <br />1991 as received. Mr. Price seconded the JlK)tion, which carried unani.1rously. <br /> <br />IN MEMJRIAM - HCMARD NEMEROV <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer said University City and the larger ccmmmity were very saddened <br />by the death of Mr. Howard Nemerov, Hearst Professor of English at Washington <br />University, Poet laureate of the united states for two years, winner of the <br />National Book Award, the National Book critics Circle Award and many other <br />honors, and a University city resident since 1968. Mr. Schoamer said Mr. <br />Nemerov was a good. neighbor and good citizen and he will be terribly missed. <br />Mayor Majerus said this is indeed a loss, but the ccmmmity is much richer <br />because of his presence for so many years. <br /> <br />AProIN'IMENTSIREAProIN'IMENTS <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman moved the appointJnent of Dr. Carolyn Orange, 959 Abbeville, to <br />the Human Relations Commission for an unexpired tenn ending August 6, 1992. <br />Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, which carried unani.1rously. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer moved that Mr. Adam Casmier, 7426 Stanford, be appointed to the <br />Library Board for a tenn expiring June 30, 1994. Mr. Price secorrled the JIK)- <br />tion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved that Mr. John Dean, 764 Yale, be reappointed to the Library <br />
