The three low bids are for pick-up at plants <br />either in northwest or south St. Louis County. Besides having City <br />vehicles out of service for the length of the drive time to and from <br />these plants, during the long drive back, the hot asphaltic concrete <br />would cool enough to be unusable. <br /> <br />I recommend accepting the bid from Fred Weber, Inc. (Kingshighway Plant) <br />in the amount of $18,715.50. Inasmuch as the total exceeds $5,000, <br />Council approval is required. <br />
