A revised parking plan arxl revised laniscape plan shall be subnitted to <br />the Director of Plannirq for his review arxl approval. '!he larxlscape plan <br />shall depict elimination of the pavement i.Inroodiately north of the exist- <br />ing front lawn area arx:l its replacement with lawn arx:l larxlscapirq appro- <br />priate to the existirq buildirq arxl signs. I..arrlscapirq shall be insta1lErl <br />arx:l maintained in accordance with the approvErl plan. '!he trash dumpster shall be located immediately behirrl the buildirq, al- <br />lowing the buildirq to conceal it from view. No additional enclosure of <br />the trash will be required. <br />3. '!he extended parking area to the south shall be paved in accordance with <br />the requirements of Section 34-50 of the University City Zoning Code pri- <br />or to occupancy of the exparrled restaurant area. <br />4. '!he freestanding sign advertisirq "Barbecuelf on the front lawn shall be <br />removed prior to occupancy of the restaurant ~ion. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff said the applicant should also verify that at least 50% of the <br />sales consist of food or non-liquor items, as required by ordinance. He not- <br />ed that several patrons suggested the establishment was more of a bar than a <br />restaurant. <br /> <br />Mr. Hadley E. Miller, the restaurant operator, came forward. Respondirq to <br />Mrs. '!horrpson, Mr. Miller said the restaurant's food sales totaled over 51%, <br />and it was open seven days a week. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus asked about the menu, arxl Mr. Miller said barbecue, fish dish- <br />es, steaks, sandwiches arx:l fast-food type items, arxl several chicken entrees <br />are served. In addition, breakfast is sel:Ved on Saturday mornirq. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoorner asked Mr. Miller to provide the city staff with a copy of the <br />restaurant's menus, arx:l also directe1 the City Manager to continue monitorirq <br />the restaurant for compliance with the licensing law regarding food sales. <br />Mr. Ollendorff said he would do so, and. asked Mr. Miller if he could estiJnate <br />the number of meals sel:Ved per day. Mr. Miller said that would be diffiOJlt, <br />however, he did have cash register receipts showi.n3' the separate cuoounts of <br />food and liquor sold. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoorner noved approval includirq all corrlitions. Mrs. '!hompson secorrled <br />the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller said the dbnensions of the restaurant additions were shown incor- <br />rectly--the greenhouse is 14' by 42' arxl the patio is 12' by 42'. <br />
