Mr. Ollendorff said if the city could arrest this own- er it would do so. Mayor Majerus asked that the City maintain the City-owned building as well as possible, ani also continue to pursue the other building owner. Ms. Holley said that will not help her, because the condition of the two buildings makes it difficult for her to borrow money to work on her own building, ani when she is successful the loans are at exorbitant rates. Mr. Price did not urrlerstarrl why the City continued to hold the building if there were no buyers even at essentially no cost. Mr. Ollendorff remin:ied Council that the City has basically subsidized the rehabbing of 35 apartment buildings in the Loop over the past 10 years, ani every one had been vacant for at least two years. He said the policy overall has been sucx::essful ani has resulted in great iIrprovement in the Loop area.
