PIACES USED FOR Irnx:;AL SAlE AND USE OF CONI'ROllED <br />SUBSTANCES,' SO AS 'IO a::MPLY WI'IH '!HE STA'lUI'ES OF '!HE STATE OF MISSOURI, AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY." <br /> <br />The bill was assigned No. 8108 arxl given its first reading. <br /> <br />The City Manager said this bill is aimed at making the use of property for <br />the sale or use of drugs or controlled substances illegal. The bill allows <br />action to be taken not only against the seller or user, but also against the <br />property owner if he/she is aware of the illegal activity. He said changes <br />are also anticipated in related city ordinances to make sure the City's laws <br />corrply with all state statutes arxl recent court decisions. <br /> <br />COMMENTS RE SAlES TAX DISI'RIHJl'ION PROIWAL <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus called attention to the material she sent to Council regarding <br />County Executive Westfall's new revenue refonn proposal. She offered to an- <br />swer questions about the plan, arxl said she was very enthusiastic about it. <br />She said the County Executive has recognized that the entire County must be <br />healthy or all will suffer, arxl his plan deserves everyone's support. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoamer said he was sure his colleagues will join him in pledging to do <br />everything possible to bring about the enactment of this measure. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus said it was fitting Ms. Glassman was in the audience, since she <br />arxl fo:rmer Mayor Joseph Mooney launched this crusade Irore than 10 years ago. <br />She asked councilmernbers to encourage their colleagues in other municipali- <br />ties to show as much support for this proposal as possible. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus called attention to an article in surrlay's newspaper about the <br />wonderful program at Brittany Woods School this year, and she corrplimented <br />Councilmember Schmnan for her very active part in it. Mrs. Schmnan said she <br />just came from a program at the school where 300 students were perfonning in <br />a musical program, arxl the enthusiastic audience c:::oI1J>letely filled the gymna- <br />sium. <br />
