<br /> <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri 63130, Phone: (314) 862-6767 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the voters of st. IDuis County and the City of st. louis will <br />be asked on April 7 to consider a plan known as Proposition P that will im- <br />pact on the very future of Forest Park and positively help economic develop- <br />ment throughout the st. IDuis area, and <br />WHEREAS, since its fO'lll'Xii.nJ, Forest Park has been a great metropolitan <br />asset and contains within its 1,300 acres the Zoo, Jewel Box, History Museum, <br />Science Center and Art Museum, and <br />WHEREAS, residents of the st. IDuis area and visitors from around the <br />world have enjoyed the natural beauty of Forest Park for over 100 years, and <br />WHEREAS, the infrastructure of this great park is deteriorating at an <br />alarming rate and immediate action is necessary to save Forest Park, and <br />WHEREAS, Proposition P, through a property tax in the City and County <br />not to exceed six cents per $100 assessed valuation, will raise $9 million <br />annually to restore Forest Park, costing owners of a $100,000 hCJIre less than <br />$1.00 per month, and bringing many construction jobs to this area, and <br />WHEREAS, Proposition P, by also raising $14 million annually through a <br />2% non-residential utilities tax, will create an Economic Development Part- <br />nership between City and County goverrnnents and County municipalities that <br />will create, attract, and retain jobs, <br />NCM, 'IHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of Uni- <br />versity city hereby join in support of Proposition P, and further encourage <br />all citizens to vote in favor of this vital issue which will be on the ballot <br />on April 7, 1992. <br />APFROVED this 16th day of March, 1992. <br /> <br /> <br />,~ <br />
