University City Intern Tracy Templin <br />, a Washington University Brown School of <br />Social Work graduate student received a Special Office of Field Education Award this <br />week. Congratulations to Ms. Templin, and much thanks for her exemplary work for the <br />City. <br />Senior Lifestyle and Resource <br />The University City Senior Resource Team is hosting a <br />Expo <br />on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Centennial Commons <br />Recreation Center at 7210 Olive Blvd. This event is free. Baby boomers, seniors, and <br />healthcare professionals, should take advantage of this expo to raise awareness of <br />many resources available in the area that promote healthy lifestyles and resources for <br />th <br />mature adults. April 16 is also National Health Care Decision Day. A notary public will <br />be there for persons who would like to complete a medical power of attorney, at no <br />charge. Information on advance directives, hospice, organ donations, and free Life <br />Choices books will also be available. Learn about a wide variety of resources, services, <br />and products from healthcare and other professionals. There will also be many raffle <br />basket prizes, give-a-ways, healthy snacks, and the Senior Resource Guide book will <br />be available at no charge. A light lunch will be available to the first 100 participants who <br />attend. The event will be held in the J.C. Penney Conference Center, Room 225 on the UM <br />- St. Louis Campus. University City resident, Dr. Todd Swanstrom, Des Lee Endowed <br />Professor at UM-St. Louis, and Debbie Irwin of Beyond Housing will discuss foreclosure <br />issues in the St. Louis region; and Dr. Subhayu Bandyopadhyay from the Federal <br />Reserve Bank of St. Louis will talk about the banking and credit crisis and what this <br />means for the future of the St. Louis Economy. "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, What <br />am I Doing in City Hall?" will address relationships with staff and constituents as well as <br />parliamentary procedure and effectiveness in public meetings.
