Regular Meeting
March 28, 2005

to be rejected. My only question is, why did you ask for it to be brought back? Why did
nd
you ask for me to call this special meeting on February 22 to reintroduce legislation
that had been rejected? I don’t understand? I know the applicant doesn’t understand
and I don’t understand. Could you explain that to me?”

Mr. Wagner: “What’s your point here? We changed our mind after considering it
and after hearing more legal questions brought up on this. So we changed our mind. I
call the question on the motion.”
Mayor Adams: “It hasn’t been seconded yet.”
Ms. Brot. “I’ll second.”

Ms. Brot: “I would like to say that in preparing the infill … residential infill
replacement, I don’t think I have the letters all right, but the infill legislation that
Councilman Wagner and I have been working on, made me do a lot of thinking about
what we were doing. And everything that we are trying to do, in that hopefully new
ordinance, is not being considered here. And I again went over today and I looked at
the property and I walked around the property. I just can’t, in good conscience, see two
houses put on there and after all I quoted about from the Comprehensive Plan about
how we wanted to maintain the integrity of the neighborhoods and in so doing, attract
people to our wonderful City and to make them want to keep living here, I just, I am
sorry Mr. Mayor, but I just cannot support subdividing this particular part. That does not
mean I won’t vote for others and it does not mean I don’t welcome mixed-use some
place where there is an appropriate space.”

Mayor Adams: “Like you say before, though, my only question is, ‘If you felt this
way, why did you and Mr. Wagner asked for me to bring this back again, when it was all
ready dead? That’s the only question. Cause I . . .”

Mr. Wagner: (Interrupted) “Want an answer to that?”

Mayor Adams: Continued speaking, saying, “. . . cause I know the applicant would
love that answer, I would love that answer. I don’t really care. I had voted originally to
deny it.”

Mr. Wagner: “Want to know the answer?”

Mayor Adams: “Then all of a sudden …… okay Mr. Wagner.”

Mr. Wagner: “The answer is, that was then and this is now.

Mr. Wagner: “I call the question on this, Mr. Mayor, call the question.”

Page 20
