Regular Meeting <br />April 11, 2005 <br /> <br /> <br />Resolution – Public Education Government Access Capital Equipment Grant <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch moved to approve a Resolution dealing with the Public Education <br />Government Access Capital Grant. This resolution approves a new Television <br />Franchise Agreement with Charter Communications Entertainment on August 26, 2002, <br />and the franchise agreement providing for a one-time Charter Communications <br />Entertainment matching grant of up to $6,000 for a capital equipment acquisition; and <br />the intention of the city to create a government access channel to provide community <br />news to its residents, visitors, and the business community, and the intention of the City <br />to purchase equipment to run this government access channel. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe seconded. Mayor Adams said this would enable more communication with <br />city residents, at least those who are on the cable system and that this is its function. <br />The Resolution passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Proclamations <br /> <br />Proclaiming May 1-May 8, 2005, as International Day of Remembrance – Holocaust <br />Memoriam <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch introduced this Proclamation and Ms. Brot seconded, and it passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Recognition of Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month – May 2005 <br /> <br />Mayor Adams explained that this Proclamation is to establish May as a month for <br />children with tumors, particularly Neurofibromatosis. He commented that a friend of his, <br />who is the mayor of a city in Florida, is the national chairman of this organization, and <br />he asked this City to support the effort. He continued to say that the cause is “close to <br />his heart” because a nephew died of this disease, then he moved to introduce this <br />Proclamation and Councilmember Wagner seconded, and the Proclamation was <br />approved unanimously. Mayor Adams thanked the City Council for their support. <br /> <br />THE CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Manager Frank Ollendorff advised that the first and fifth items on the Consent <br />Calendar were removed, leaving the remaining Consent Calendar with items two, three <br />and four, only. <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />
