<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council <br /> <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br /> <br />Date: April 24, 2009 <br /> <br />Subject: Weekly Update <br /> <br /> <br />Monday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. Deputy City Manager Janet Watson <br />will provide a <br />public presentation on the City’s budget projection in the EOC Room. After the <br />presentation, the public is welcome to ask questions or make recommendations. <br />Following the question and answer period there will be an update on the City’s health <br />insurance coverage. Responses to Council’s budget questions are attached. <br /> <br />Wilson property <br />I would like to send a letter to the owners awaiting buyout to provide <br />them an update on Council’s status with the grant application. I prepared a draft letter <br />for your review. Please review the content and let me know your feedback Monday <br />night. Once I have received your feedback, I can prepare a question/answer sheet and <br />mail the letter early next week. <br />Parkview Gardens park planning process <br />The kicked off today with the <br />establishment of an on-going Advisory Committee and the identification of Stakeholders <br />who will be interviewed by the H3Studio. Through the generous support of Washington <br />University, the City will move forward in creating a vision for the future of three parks <br />that hold great value to the Parkview neighborhood. H3Studio was the firm selected to <br />develop the master plan for the redesign of Metcalfe, Ackert and Eastgate Parks. <br />Stakeholders, including the Mayor and Second Ward Council Members will be <br />contacted shortly to schedule interviews slated for May 18 and 19. The Advisory <br />Committee will meet in June, July and September. There will be two public workshops <br />held in conjunction with the study during the June and September Park Commission <br />meetings. <br /> <br />Calling all Artists: <br />In celebration of the 100 Year Birthday of the Lions at our Gates of <br />Opportunity in the Civic Plaza, a community-wide art project is underway. The <br />Historical Society of University City, in partnership with the City, will be placing nine (9) <br />life-sized fiberglass lions around town this summer. This art project is similar to the <br />Roaring Lions of University City <br />Cows of Chicago, except we have the ! Artists <br />interested in decorating the lions can pick up an application packet at Centennial <br />Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. A lion is currently on display in the lobby. The lions will be <br />placed in time for a citywide scavenger hunt on Saturday, June 13. The lions will then <br /> <br />
