<br />To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br />Date: June 19, 2009 <br />Subject: Weekly Update <br />Fire and Police crews were required to respond to heavy flooding and road closures <br />once again on Monday night. Crews went door to door alerting residents of rising waters <br />from 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM.The Community Center was opened to any families in need. <br />The Mayor’s Declaration of Emergency and associated letters to our State <br />Representatives are attached. No one was required to evacuate. New City Fellowship <br />flooding <br />continues their amazing ministry. They continue to assist families impacted by <br />issues <br /> from the rains this season. Volunteers from New City Fellowship and Restore <br />St. Louis are assisting residents with clean up of basements and removal of debris. If <br />you need help or wish to assist them with their ministry for more information, call <br />Andrew Stern, Work Day Director, New City Fellowship and Restore St. Louis at 314- <br />nd <br />726-2302 ext. 222. New City Fellowship is located at 1483 82 Street in University <br />City. <br />Parkview Gardens Park community design meeting <br />A reminder that the will be held <br />at Centennial Commons on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 PM. The public is encouraged to <br />participate and share their ideas, dreams and long-term vision for Metcalf, Ackert and <br />Eastgate Parks. Much thanks to the residents and business owners participating on the <br />Advisory Committee and to Washington University for their willingness to fund the <br />design process. John Hoal has done an impressive job of bringing the project to life. <br />Public Informational Open House:Loop Trolleyon Track <br />A will be on Wednesday, <br />July 8, 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Regional Arts Commission – Studio Room, 6128 Delmar <br />Blvd. Come and learn the latest on the Loop Trolley project and tell what you think <br />about the proposed route, trolley vehicles and much more. Stop by between 4 and 7 <br />PM to talk to an expert, or plan to attend a slide presentation at 4:30 and 6:00 PM. For <br />more information or to request special assistance or accommodations, please contact <br />info@looprolley.org or call Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) at 314-231-7272. <br />The Scavenger Hunt was a great success last Saturday. Families of all ages enjoyed <br />hunting for lions all over town with the clues provided by the Historical Society of <br />University. Many thanks go out to the artists for their outstanding work. Thank you to <br />the many volunteers who coordinated the effort and to Kara Krekeler at the West End <br />Word for very creative and enthusiastic coverage of this event.
