7.
Lawrence Taylor, 7472 Stanford
Mr. Taylor recounted back to the last meeting when Councilmember Crow stated
that we can always review and change the budget. He took heart in that as this
tax initiative puts us at the highest end that could break the donkey’s back where
it creates our community less competitive rather than more. Mr. Taylor would like
the Council to rethink and be smart by making ourselves more competitive rather
than less.
8.
Elanor Hughes, 1523 Mendell
Ms. Hughes said her home was flooded every time since September of 2008.
She stated that in September the City told her that they were not part of the flood
zone. Ms. Hughes stated the water was so high in their basement that it was up
to her waist. Her son can no longer live at their house because of the mold and
now her daughter is showing the same symptoms. Ms. Hughes stated they do
not know what else to do.
9.
Lowell Smith, 1153 Glenside
Mr. Smith asked to have his neighborhood added to the area of flooding. He has
thth
been flooded three times in the last year, today, the 27 of last month and 14 of
September of last year. He suggested that the flooding is happening because of
development upstream. Development created more asphalt paving and when
water hits it, it runs immediately into the creek.
10.
Ronda Fitch, 1556 N. Hanley
Ms. Fitch was concerned over the pavement in her alleyway. Parking is not
allowed on Hanley in front of her house, so she goes up Liberty to get to behind
her house. This alley is full of gravel and weeds. When it rains, the water flows
down the gravel into her back yard and eventually into her basement. Ms. Fitch
asked that this area be paved and the weeds cut down. She also stated that
vehicles speed through on Liberty.
11.
Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel
Ms. Glickert stated that it has always been the policy that no matter when a
Public Hearing is held the decision is not voted on until the following meeting.
The reason is that when the Public Hearing is held not every resident can be
present so it is the obligation of the officials to hear from their constituents. Ms.
Glickert stated that sales tax is also very regressive.
Ms. Feier stated there is money in the budget for $500 to include signage for the
naming of a park for an event for Mayor’s retirement. In the confusion of
transferring the account an additional “0” was added and has been corrected to
reflect $500 to be appropriated from the Administrative budget.
12.
Margarita Gomez-Alborello, 1131 Birch
Ms. Gomez-Alborello feels her house should be a priority as it has flooded, not
just when there is a storm but every time it rains. She said MSD has worked on
her house and when she told the MSD inspector that she still had water in her
basement when it rains. He told her she always will as there is a creek under her
house. She said she now has a nest of mosquitoes in her basement and she
