Each garden <br />will have one of the beautifully decorated roaring lions that you have seen on Delmar <br />and in some of our City's parks. The lions were painted by artists as part of our City <br />Lions' 100th Birthday Celebration. At the end of the garden tour, there will be a wine and <br />cheese reception at the City Hall Centennial Gardens. Tickets for the Garden Tour are <br />available at University Gardens, Winslow's Home or from Jane Schaeffer at <br />janeschaefer@earthlink.net or 314-727-6263. Tickets are $15. Proceeds will benefit U <br />City in Bloom. In addition to the gardens, the home at 15 Princeton will be open. This <br />lovely home near City Hall was badly burned in 2006 and it came close to being torn <br />down. It has since been beautifully restored and furnished by a young couple who have <br />graciously offered to have visitors on the day of the Garden Tour. <br />The artfully decorated life-sized lions found around University City will be auctioned <br />Celebration Party on Saturday, October 10, 2009 <br />off at a . The University Parks <br />Foundation is hosting the party with support from the Historical Society and the City. <br />The auction will be held at City Hall at 7PM. Tickets are $25 per person and include <br />food, fun entertainment and auction of the roaring lions and other fanciful items. <br />Contact Judy Prange at 721-7401 or jprange@holycommunion.net for tickets. The <br />artists, who magically transformed the fiberglass lions into the amazing works of art, <br />will also be present to talk about their work. All proceeds from the auction will go <br />into a permanent fund for the care and maintenance of the actual Lions at the Gates <br />of Opportunity in the Civic Plaza.
