<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION 2009 - 16 <br /> WHEREAS, a special election was held in the City of University City, Missouri on <br /> August 4, 2009, pursuant to Ordinance No. 6771, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified <br /> voters a proposition to impose a sales tax of one-fourth of one percent ("Proposition S"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, if a majority of the votes cast on Proposition S by the qualified voters voting <br /> thereon were in favor of Proposition S, then it would pass and the sales tax would be in effect; <br /> otherwise, the sales tax would not be in effect; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said election was conducted according to the laws of the State of Missouri, <br /> the City Charter, and ordinances of University City, and the rules and regulations promulgated by <br /> <br /> the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis County, Missouri; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on August 7, 2009, the Board of Election Commissioners of St. Louis <br /> County, Missouri, certified the results of the election, a copy of which is attached hereto and <br /> incorporated by reference; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there were 1,037 Yes votes and 1,748 No votes. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Proposition S did not receive the simple <br /> majority necessary to be declared passed, and has therefore failed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Sharpe, Jr. moved adoption. <br /> <br /> Motion seconded by Councilmember Price and carried. <br /> <br /> Adopted this 31 St day of August, 2009. <br /> <br /> 1 hereby certify that the above is a true excerpt of the minutes of the meeting of the City Council <br /> of the City of University City, Missouri, held on the 31St day of August, 2009. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Tt7 E PU M "Jc,~s ADAMS <br /> <br /> Cfty CLERK Ay <br />
