actually consists of a variety of games and activities that park goers of all ages can <br />enjoy. Sponsored by the University City Parks Foundation, <br />(www.ucityparksfoundation.org), this year's Parkathlon will be held on Saturday, <br />September 26from 9 AM until noon at the Heman Park soccer field, (just east of the <br />Centennial Commons). The cost is $5.00 to participate and includes participation prizes <br />donated by Parkathlon sponsors. Proceeds will help to fund various U City park <br />improvements. This is a day not to be missed! <br />This year's activities will include: <br /> 1 Mile Fun Run - at Heman Park's jogging trail, <br /> "Art in the Park" - participants will paint miniature lions to help celebrate the <br />th <br />100 anniversary of the U-City Lions gate <br /> "Captain Target" golf game – kids can test their budding golf skills <br /> Football Target Toss – score points by throwing a football at the target <br /> Soccer Ball Target – score points by kicking a soccer ball at the target <br /> Adult-Child Tennis Tournament at Heman Park tennis courts <br /> FREE exercise class demonstrations including: <br /> Cardio Kickboxing, <br />o <br /> T'ai Chi, <br />o <br /> Zumba, <br />o <br /> Senior Stretch and even <br />o <br /> Belly Dancing! <br />o <br />Each class is available at the Centennial Commons. <br />Starlight Concert Series <br />Also, join us after the Parkathlon from 1PM–3 PM for favorite, <br />Satin, a Motown revue musical experience! For more information or sponsorship <br />opportunities for the 2009 University City Parkathlon, call Thomas Miller at 495-5239 or <br />emailtmmiller24@hotmail.com. <br />Also Saturday, September 26 the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Earthways Center <br />Green Homes Giant Street Festival <br />will host the from 10 AM to 6 PM at the 3600 <br />block of Grandel Square. There will be experts available to discuss the latest green <br />technologies for homes along with green living workshops and activities for families to <br />encourage recycling including arts and crafts.
