Regular meeting
July 18, 2005

such a thing.

John Cross, 6847 Raymond, is not here to talk about chickens but is here to talk to all
eight of our Council people, including Mr. Ollendorff, but excluding Ms. Forsythe. We
forget what we are elected for. If public opinion is not important, why do we even have
meetings? We need to be treated as a whole in its entirety, not just a certain part. He
expected for these individual to tell them if they are going to just build certain parts of
University City and tear the rest of it down. He asked if this behavior would continue.

Linda Peoples, 1532 Park Way Drive has been a resident during her childhood and has
decided to come back to University City to live. She was appalled at hearing of the
chicken ordinance. She was not at the meeting to be able to express her opinion.
Second item is a Pit Bull dog that lives on her street. Owners of this dog have had
police called on them several times, but nothing has happened. She wonders that if the
chicken ordinance was passed, what would be next - raising of Pit Bulls? She asked for
the Council to repeal the chicken ordinance.

Ms. Colquitt asked the address of the Pit Bulls, which Ms. Peoples responded at 1540
Park Way Drive.

Lynn Eddington, 6850 Bartmer, is appalled at the Councilmembers allowing the chicken
ordinance to be passed without even considering the neighborhood or the community
input. What is going to be next? Everybody deserves respect and the community
deserves to have input, therefore the Council has failed the community.

David Plair, 1540 North Jackson, would appreciate it if the Council would reconsider this
chicken ordinance and possibly give the citizens the opportunity to vote on it.

Thelma Jones, 8005 Braddock Dr, has been a resident since 1967. She moved to
University City because of all the ordinances on the books. It is a county not country.
Chickens breed lice and have odors. If they want to raise chickens then they should
raise them where they live.

Ms. Colquitt had something to say before moving to the Legislative docket. She asked
her colleagues who supported the chicken ordinance to reconsider Ordinance 6567 and
allow citizen input on this issue. She asked for it two weeks ago and she is asking for it
again.

Mayor Adams said that according to Robert’s Rules, the only people that can ask for
reconsideration are only those who voted in the majority for this ordinance. There was
no one, who voted in the majority, who was willing to reconsider. Mayor Adams said he
personally wished, like Ms. Colquitt, that there could have been a debate on this issue.
One question that has now come up and I have formulated afterwards is; do they need
a commercial permit to sell said products.
Page 13
