<br />To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council <br />From: Julie Feier, City Manager <br />Date: October 23, 2009 <br />Subject: Weekly Update <br />The City of University City will hold a memorial and dedication ceremony on Saturday, <br />October 31, 2009 at 10:00 AM to honor all University City public servants, in particular <br />for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The new flagpole will be dedicated and <br />a new memorial monument will be unveiled during the ceremony. The location of the <br />ceremony will be outside of City Hall at the corner of Sgt. Mike King Drive and Delmar <br />Boulevard. <br /> OnSite Theatre play <br />Come out and enjoythe currently at The Green Center. The play <br />shows this Friday and Saturday, 23rd and 24th, as well as the 30th and 31st. Tickets <br />are $20 through OnSite and at the door. Please consider attending; you will be <br />delighted to see how the spaces--including the greenhouse--are used. <br />In collaboration with the Black Rep, the Performing Arts Department at Washington <br />Ragtime <br />University presents on October 23-24 & 30-31 at 8:00 PM at the Edison <br />Theatre, Washington University. General admission is $15.00. Also showing on <br />October 25 and November 1 at 2:00 PM.RAGTIME is a story about life in America at <br />the beginning of the 20th century, addressing such volatile issues as immigration, <br />racism, and industrialization. The show focuses on three families—upper-middle class <br />Protestant, Jewish Immigrant, and Harlem African-American—whose intersecting lives <br />are influenced by the Ragtime era’s social upheavals. For tickets 314-935-6543 or <br />Metrotix.com. <br />The 1st Annual Great Pumpkin Carve and Glow <br />is Saturday, Oct. 24 in the Moonrise <br />Hotel Courtyard, 6177 Delmar, from 3-6pm. Loop merchants are invited to enter a <br />pumpkin that captures their spirit, and then display it in their window through Halloween. <br />Free pumpkins, basic carving/decorating materials will be provided by the Moonrise <br />Hotel and Eclipse restaurant.
