To: Honorable Mayor Adams and Council From: Julie Feier, City Manager Date: November 27, 2009 Subject: Weekly Update Distinguished Budget Presentation Award The City of Unviersity City received the for the current budget from the Government Finance Officers Assoicaiotn (GFOA). This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by our organization. Deputy City Manager/Finance Director Janet Watson is the primary individual responsible for having achieved this award. I am tremendously appreciative of Ms. Watson, her staff, and the Directors for having made great strides in improving our budgetary process over the past three years. I am also grateful to the GFOA for recognizging excellence in budgeting and providing a thorough assessment of our budget process. The award letter and press release are attached. Three Day CERT Training Class The University City Fire Department is hosting a on Friday, January 29, Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31, 2010. Location of the class will be dependent on class size, currently, we anticpate holding the class at Fire House 2 on North and South. Class participants are trained in basic response techniques in order to assist local citizens and professional responders in disaster or emergency situations. There is no cost for the training. Attendence to all three days is required. Contact Janet Carter 505-8591 to register for the class. CDBG allocation Council requested the current to consider additional funding opportunities for the home loan program.
