It does not include "ecological" <br />open space, e.g., wetlands, forests or agricultural land. This data was updated in June <br />2009, incorporating parcel geography extracted from individual County Assessor files. <br />Click on the Map of the Month icon at www.ewgateway.org to view this map. <br />Speaker Series on Downtown St. Louis Issues - Forum This Thursday <br />KSDK's Mike Owens the featured speaker <br />Join the Holden Public Policy forum at <br />Webster University and FOCUS St. Louis® for a program designed <br />to foster an open conversation about downtown St. Louis – its challenges, <br />misconceptions and solutions. This speaker series – FOCUS on Downtown with the <br />Holden Public Policy Forum – features local media personalities who have been <br />investigating and reporting on these issues as policy makers and elected <br />officials come and go. Forums will be start at 6 PM and end around 7:30, followed by a <br />tasting from local wine merchants and breweries. This third forum on Thursday, March <br />4, at Mosaic Restaurant,1001 Washington Avenue, will feature Mike Owens from KSDK <br />television. <br />March 4: St. Louis Regional Food Summit <br />You are invited to the St. Louis Regional Food Summit, a regional discussion about the <br />development of a Food Policy Council Steering Committee for the St. Louis Region. The <br />Summit will bring together residents of the metro region to discuss the benefits of food <br />system planning. It will include breakout sessions on food access, healthy retail, farm to <br />school programs, and production and distribution. The summit will feature Mark Winne, <br />author of Closing the Food Gap, as the keynote speaker. The summit will be held on <br />Mar. 4, at Saint Louis University in the Allied Health Building from 8 AM - 4 PM. A VIP <br />reception will be held the night before the summit on Mar. 3, from 5:30-7:30 PM, at the <br />Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park. Mark Winne will be reading from his book and <br />it will include samples of local food. For more information or to register go to <br />http://xrl.us/bgwfmc. <br />March 6: Dred and Harriet Scott Commemoration Day <br />Commemorate the 153rd Anniversary of the Dred Scott family's struggle for freedom <br />with a visit the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial on March 6 for Dred and Harriet <br />Scott Commemoration Day. Dred Scott played an important role in the 1857 decision of <br />the United States Supreme Court, which nullified the Missouri Compromise and allowed <br />slavery within the U.S. territories in the west. The memorial will be featuring films on <br />slavery and the "Dred Scott Decision" as well as numerous programs in the afternoon. <br />At noon, the Normandy High School Jazz Band will perform and at 1 PM, Lynne <br />Jackson (great-greatgranddaughter of Dred and Harriet Scott) and Ruth Ann Hager <br />(author and certified genealogical lecturer) will speak.
