The <br />will be pushed forward to the April 12 meeting. <br />Festival of U. City Call for Art! <br />The University City Arts and Letters Commission, in <br />collaboration with U. City Parks Foundation, The Green Center and U. City Parks, <br />Recreation and Forestry Department is issuing a “Call for Art” for the Juried Invitational <br />Art Fair on June 19, 2010, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM at Heman Park. The application <br />deadline is April 7. This invitation extends to all artists living within a 250-mile radius of <br />University City. For applications or more information contact Tom McCarthy at <br />tmccarthy@ucitymo.org or call 505-8612. –More information attached. <br />In conjunction with the City and the School District, the Flynn Park School PTO has <br />fund raising campaign to raise $35,000 in grant match to build a new <br />begun a <br />playground that will serve the school and the neighborhood <br />. The overall project <br />budget is $350,000 and will be the largest playground project in a city park to date. <br />Check out the PTO website dedicated to the effort www.takeprideinplay.com. The <br />design process included students challenged to dream of the very best playground <br />during art classes. School faculty and staff have been involved in planning that focuses <br />on safety and the practical aspects of student’s use of the playground, and neighbors <br />have been meeting to help determine what type of playground is the best for their <br />community. The ideas have ranged from a playground that focuses on physical fitness <br />and reduction of obesity rates, a totally themed playground (i.e. pirate ship or jungle), or <br />a universal design which exceeds ADA accessibility requirements and provides 100% <br /> <br />
