We are currently under contract <br />7201 Balson. <br />PICK UP COFFEE CO. is a for-profit, socially and environmentally responsible coffee company. We use <br />only farmer-friendly, fair trade, organic certified coffee beans and teas and promote socially conscious <br />business practices from the remote community producer through cooperatives to the local business <br />organization and end consumers. Through local and international community support, we seek to <br />encourage education and social dialogue while providing economic opportunities for each of those in the <br />supply chain based upon the fair trade model. Pick Up Coffee Company, in the spirit of fair trade practices <br />supports local community development programs through student mentoring programs and donating a <br />portion of its profits and products to organizations such as Women In Charge promote health and education <br />in the St. Louis community. Pick Up Coffee also employs innovative green business practices. <br />The PICK UP roasting facility will include an easy-access retail storefront offering hot and cold fair trade <br />coffees and teas as well as locally produced products from other similar local innovative startups including <br />Black Bear Bakery and Little Dipper Chocolate. Patrons can view every step of the micro-roasting process <br />sample freshly roasted varieties, learning about the producers, process and roasting while enjoying an <br />expertly prepared fair trade coffee or tea. <br />The founder, Elizabeth Sharp received B.A. degrees in Theology and Political Science from Loyola <br />University of Chicago and is currently working towards her M.A. in International Affairs as Washington <br />University in St. Louis, MO and is involved in working with students on this business venture within the Olin <br />School of Business. Ms. Sharp has 16 years part-time restaurant and café experience as well as working as <br />working in strategic, operational, financial and human resource development in the communications <br />management industry in both public and private sectors for the past 8 years. Assigned to managing <br />implementations in top universities and Fortune 500 companies, Ms. Sharp has achieved mastery of senior <br />level of project management, including several awards and certificates for consistently demonstrating <br />leadership within her organization. She resides within a few blocks of this location at 7330 Colgate Avenue <br />and 7350 Cornell Avenue. She has many friends and family within the immediate vicinity. <br />The Pick Up Café will have two employees onsite during open hours, currently scheduled for Monday thru <br />Saturday from 5:30 AM until 10:30 PM and Sundays 6AM until 8 PM. Peak hours will likely include morning <br />commuters from 7-9, and local business traffic lunch hours from 11-1. Steady foot traffic through the day <br />from neighborhood students and local residents is likely. Pick Up Coffee will provide a small casual café with <br />a lighter-fare menu and is intended to provide a handcrafted beverage for the patient coffee connoisseur <br />rather than a ‘drive-thru’ opportunity. Pick Up Coffee will be a community café both child and pet friendly. <br />Off-street parking is located in the front of the building for approximately 500 sq. feet of dining space <br />(customer dining / seating area minus storage and cabinet in Roasting Area. Impact of parking to the local <br />streets will be minimal. <br />Signage will include an on-building sign reading “Pick Up Coffee Company” centered on the building in blue <br />letters and a small 1’- 6” x 2’ sign reading “little dipper chocolate”.
