it f <br />n~~rr~ ~1~ <br />Council Agenda Item Cover <br />MEETING DATE: June 21, 2010 <br />AGENDA ITEM TITLE: Change Loop South Parking <br />AGENDA SECTION: Unfinished Business <br />CAN THIS ITEM BE RESCHEDULED? : Yes <br />BACKGROUND: In 2001 when a portion of Loop South was changed to one-way <br />traffic, an ordinance was approved at the time to not allow any parking on the north side <br />of Loop South between Kingsland and Leland. However, signs had never been posted <br />and cars have been parking parallel on both side of the street for almost ten years. <br />Public Works staff evaluated the street width in the area and determined that the <br />required width of the street for emergency vehicles was lacking, and a small portion of <br />the street is not wide enough for parking on both sides. This area is essentially behind <br />St. Louis Bread Company and Commerce Bank. ~hls ordinance lifts the "no parking <br />restrlct~on"from the other portions of the north side of the street ~n this block. A <br />detailed explanation is attached including a map. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving the lifting of the "no parking <br />restriction" as outlined in the ordinance. <br />June 21, 2010 L-1-1 <br />
