MINUTES aF UNIVERSITY CITY CaUNCIL <br />STUDY SESSIaN <br />May 24, 2010 <br />The Council Study Session, held in the EaC Room of the City Hall, on Monday, May 24, <br />2010, was called to order at 6:35 p.m. The following members of the Council were <br />present: <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br />M r. Byron Price <br />Mr. Michael Glickert <br />Ms. Lynn Ricci <br />M r. Terry Crow <br />M r. Stephen Kraft <br />Mayor Shelley welsch <br />Also present were the Interim City Manager Janet Watson and City Attorney John <br />Mulligan. <br />The study session was for discussion of the City's Fiscal Year 2011 Legislative Budget. <br />Discussion included: <br />• Mayor welsch stated she would like to have dollars in the budget for legal counsel <br />for Council's use <br />• Legislative travel was discussed. Mr. Glickert stated the Council uses it for <br />conferences of the National League of Conference and the Missouri Municipal <br />League. Mr. Sharpe stated he uses it as he is a member of the MML's Board of <br />Directors. <br />• Mayor welsch noted that she hopes to be attending meetings under the travel <br />budget. She also noted that it would be a good idea for Councilmember attending <br />to give a report of what was taken from the meeting. <br />• Ms. Ricci endorsed money in the budget for travel, Council lap tops, fees for <br />attorney advice and a copierfor the City Clerk's office <br />• Mayor welsch noted she would speak to the City Clerk for her input as to a need for <br />a copier <br />• The deficit for 2012 was projected to be 2.7 million <br />• Mr. Mulligan noted that the City could receive T Mobile's settlement of around 600 <br />thousand dollars. He also said the Ameren UE situation could result in an expense <br />reduction <br />• Mr. Price asked for information on a bond issue and putting in back on the ballot. <br />Attached is the handout on the preliminary General Fund budget issues. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. <br />Joyce Pumm, City Clerk <br />June 21, 2010 D-1-1 <br />
