<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> !1 SESSION 1310 <br /> <br /> MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> June 21, 1982 <br /> <br /> <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City, held in the Assembly <br /> Room of the City Hall on Monday, June 21, 1982, Mayor Joseph W. Mooney presided and <br /> called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following <br /> members of the Council were present: <br /> Mr. Lawrence Lieberman <br /> Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br /> Mrs. Cynthia Metcalfe <br /> Mr. Marvin B. Levy <br /> Mr. Paul E. Schoomer <br /> Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> Also present were City Manager Frank Ollendorff and City Attorney Dennis F. Kay. <br /> I <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> Mr. Levy moved that the minutes of May 19, 1982 be approved as received. Mr. Adams <br /> I seconded the me*_ion, which carried unanimously. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mayor Mooney said he was sorry to report that Mr. Arthur C. Humphrey, a former Uni- <br /> versity City councilmember, had recently died at the age of 82. Mr. Humphrey served <br /> from 1947 to 1954, in the period immediately following approval of the City's new <br /> charter. He also served on the University City Board of Education prior to his ser- <br /> vice on the Council. <br /> Mayor Mooney said he had received a communication from Sen. Danforth regarding the <br /> proposed Telecommunications Act of 1982, now being discussed in the Senate. The <br /> Mayor invited councilmembers to inform him how they view this proposed legislation. <br /> Sen. Danforth's letter said that it was his understanding that the bill would be re- <br /> drafted soon, that he would examine the bill closely and support a fair balance be- <br /> tween the respective interests of the federal and local governments, taking special <br /> note of the City's position in regard to this legislation. Mr. Adams said he would <br /> examine the bill as soon as it was amended, and confer with the Mayor as to what po- <br /> sition should be taken by the City. <br /> CITY MANAGER'S AGENDA <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR (FOUR ITEMS) <br /> <br /> Budget Transfers (#l).
