<br />MINUTES OF UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR SESSION <br />August 30, 2010 <br /> <br /> <br />At the Regular Session of the City Council of University City held on the fifth floor of the City Hall, <br />on Monday, August 30, 2010, Mayor Shelley Welsch called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. In <br />addition to Mayor Welsch, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> Mr. Byron Price, <br /> Ms. Lynn Ricci <br /> Mr. Stephen Kraft <br /> Mr. Terry Crow <br /> Mr. Michael Glickert <br /> Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also in attendance was City Manager Lehman Walker. <br /> <br />C. PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />1. <br />August 9, 2010, Regular Session minutes were moved for approval by Mr. Sharpe and <br />carried unanimously <br /> <br />E. APPOINTMENTS <br />1. <br />Robert Wilcox, James Reeves and Gladys Green were reappointed to the CALOP <br />Commission by Mr. Glickert, seconded by Mr. Sharpe and carried unanimously. <br />2. <br />Diane Sher was reappointed to the Pension Board by Mr. Glickert, seconded by Mr. Sharpe <br />and carried unanimously. <br />3. <br />Worth Hayes was nominated to the Board of Appeals by Mr. Price, seconded by Mr. Glickert <br />and carried unanimously. <br />4. <br />Marva Miller was nominated to the Infill Review Board by Mr. Price, seconded by Mr. <br />Sharpe and carried unanimously. <br />5. <br />David Stokes and Larry Nolan were reappointed to the Library Board by Mr. Kraft, seconded <br />by Ms. Ricci and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />F. SWEARING IN <br /> <br />G. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (Total of 15 minutes allowed) <br /> <br />Paulette Carr, 7901 Gannon Ave <br />Ms. Carr discussed her concern over the process by which the City Manager was hired; she <br />outlined events in a timeline. Ms. Carr does not agree with the Council’s use of “consensus.” <br />She noted the process did not display transparency or accountability that was promised. <br /> <br />Acme Price, 8236 Balson <br />Mr. Price complimented the people, the businesses and other interested parties who shared in <br />having made the new City Manager Lehman Walker’s reception a successful activity. He asked <br />if any of the planning committee who was in the audience to stand to be acknowledged. The <br />reception presented a great opportunity for all to meet, greet, and interact with Mr. Walker and <br />we wish him well. The committee reported to the City and Council that not a nickel was spent <br />from the City’s money on this event.
