Minutes of the CALOP Meeting

February 6, 2006

The meeting convened at 6:15 p.m. at the county offices of Cable TEC, 8390
Delmar, U. City. In attendance were Cameron Sanders, Jon Galloway, Ed
Nickels, Marla Roach, Eric Friedman, Dennis Riggs, Shelly Welsch, Eleanor
Mullin, Jim Kirchherr

CENTENNIAL PROJECT: Steve Behrens attended to further discuss his ideas.
He is immediately available, and enthusiastic, and wants to cover the most
visually interesting events. Ed suggested he talk to Sue Reikopf. Steve's
experience and track record are excellent. We briefly discussed Chris Benson's
application; there was virtually no preparation, and he has little experience.
Cameron told us he spoke to Brent Jaimes, the third applicant, who is extremely
qualified, but felt he could only make a 30 minute film, and has some availability
problems in the near future. Jim moved we award the grant to Steve Behrens,
Eleanor second, approved by acclamation in the amount of $15,000.00

GRANT ROUND: We have approximately $20,000.00 available to grant right
now, with much more available once it is unencumbered. So we can agree to
grant funds now, and then as available We then discussed the 16 applicants,
and tallied our 250 point votes. A summary of the votes is included.
The following decisions were made: 1. Eric moved to defer Dennis Finnegan's
proposal "University City Parks', and we are going to have an RFP for that
subject in the near future. Jim Second. Approved by a 5-1 vote. 2. Valeri
Tichacek's 'Jazz at Cookies' was disqualified due to by-laws, 3. Jim Tudor's 'Old
North' was deferred, as he still has a project pending, and Solstice Productions
'Outlaw State' was disqualified due to by-laws. Ed moved that we consider, and
invite to the next meeting, proposals receiving over 1200 points. Jim second,
approved by acclamation. This gives us TEN projects. Members were
assigned names to call. Eleanor agreed to send letters to the rejected applicants.

ADDENDUM: the day after the meeting, Cameron informed us that Support a
Child International's 'Reclaiming our City' was disqualified due to by laws.

PREMIERE: Jon reported everything in place, except approximately 20 more
volunteers are needed as ticket takers, ushers, etc.

CENTENNIAL MOVIE: We then watched the movie, which we agreed was very
well done. However, we noted that the title is wrong. All information has gone
