Session 1742 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />January 11, 1999 <br /> <br />At a special meeting of the City Council of University City held in room 6, second floor <br />conference room of City Hall on Monday, January 11, 1999, Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the <br />meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council <br />were present: <br /> <br />Ms. Cassandra Colquitt <br />Mr, Wayne I. Munkel <br />Mr. Robert Wagner <br />Mr. Larry Lieberman <br />Mr. Paul Schoomer <br />Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff and Assistant City Manager Gregory Rose. <br /> <br />The only subject discussed was the sewer lateral insurance program. <br /> <br />Council discussed the details of the pending lateral insurance program bill and the details <br />regarding its impletnentation. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams recessed the meeting at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will continue after the regular <br />session this evening,. <br />Mayor Adams reconvened the meeting at 8:06 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Rose introduced Mike Badgley, MSD Maintenance. Mr. Badgley explained how other <br />communities were instituting the sewer lateral insurance program. Different methods of <br />implementation and program processes were explored. The City will insure the replacement or <br />repair of laterals from the house to the curb that can not be cleared. <br /> <br />The sense of Council was to agree to instituting a deductible in the program, however being <br />sensitive to low income families, There should also be written guidelines for the City staff person <br />that will be responsible for the program. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting at 8:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Leisha K.
