<br />University City Commission on Arts and Letters Minutes <br />October 11, 2005 <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Jane Brownstone, Leland Barber, Calla Smorodin, Robert Bernstein, Traci <br />Moore-Clay, Phyllis Weber, Lisa Mandel, Jo Anne Zach, Emily Kelly, Barbara Santoro, Adelia <br />Parker-Castro. <br /> <br />Others present: Staff Liaison: Cheryl Thompson <br /> <br />Absent: City Council Liaison: Francine Brungardt <br /> <br /> President: Traci Moore-Clay, called the meeting to order at 7:24 p.m. <br /> <br />September minutes were approved as written to include the following changes: Jane <br />Brownstone reported that Jean had Cancer Surgery and asked that minutes be changed to <br />reflect said change. Jane added that Jean was very touched by the flowers sent to her from <br />the Commission and sends many thanks. A motion was made by Barbara Santoro and seconded <br />by Jane Brownstone that the minutes be accepted as amended. <br /> <br />Treasurers Report: Members received a copy, Emily Kelly will continue to fulfill the <br />responsibilities of the Treasurer and continue to keep all financial records. <br /> <br />Calendar: Traci Moore-Clay reported on the progress of the University City Centennial <br />Calendar she provided all members with printed list and images submitted by Jay Fram for <br />the centennial calendar; pointed out that there will be 4 extra pages for the 101 things to <br />do, which will include a photo collage of University City History; the University City <br />Historical Society will be requested to provide historical annotation for each image used; 11 x <br />14 Broad prints (available to Commission members for $23.00) and limited edition posters <br />signed by Jay Fram, are good possibilities for fund raising at the Centennial Grand Opening; <br />there will be post cards at the Centennial Grand Opening, January, 2006; two images have <br />been selected for the Cover; The Title for the calendar and the photography exhibition <br />(opening January 6, 2006, at Componere Gallery, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) will be the same. <br /> <br />After short discussion, the Commission selected Centennial Reflections: Images of <br />University City, and selected Lions Gate image for the main cover and Sun Lion for a month <br />image. <br /> <br />Photo Show - Spring 2006: There will be a notice in CITY SCAPE and at the end of November <br />schools will be notified about the 38th annual Amateur Photographic Competition, volunteers <br />are needed for this event. Discussed and agreed upon that Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd <br /> <br /> <br />
