<br />University City Commission On Arts and Letters <br />Minutes <br />April 11, 2006 <br /> <br />Attendees: <br /> Calla Smorodin <br /> Jane Brownstone <br /> Lisa Mandel <br /> Emily Kelly <br /> Barbara Santoro <br /> Leland Barber <br /> Robert Bernstein <br /> Traci Moore-Clay <br /> Phyllis Weber <br /> Joanne Zach <br /> <br />Staff Liaison: <br /> Cheryl Thompson <br /> <br />City Council Liaison: <br />Francine Brungardt <br /> <br />Calla Smorodin, president, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br /> January minutes approved <br /> <br />Treasurers Report: <br />Unavailable <br /> <br />City Council Report <br />: Francine went over the distribution of the Sculpture Series books. <br />University City is submitting a portfolio about U. City in Bloom to America in Bloom <br />which will be publishing a book about local and national gardening organizations. <br /> <br />The Olive Business Association is supporting the Summer Concert Series this year. <br /> <br />The new city manager will be coming in May from Colorado. <br /> <br />th <br />On May 28 there will be a new event called Savor U. City. It will be a large event in <br />Heman Park taking place day and night . It will be featuring local restaurants, vintage <br />baseball on Jack Buck Field, music, fireworks, and the pool will be opening early that <br />day. <br /> <br />There will be a welcoming party for the new city council members at city hall on April <br />17, 2006. <br /> <br />Returning Artist: <br /> David Harris is a jazz musician and teacher at the New England <br />Conservatory of Music. He will hopefully join the Returning Artist group. <br /> <br />Sculpture Series: <br /> The Sculpture Series books were passed out and Lisa Mandel and <br />Robert Bernstein thanked everyone for helping in the Sculpture Series. <br /> <br />
