<br />ARTS AND LETTERS COMMISSION MINUTES -- MAY 13, 2008 <br /> <br />MEETING CALLED TO ORDER at 7:07p.m. <br />by Calla Smorodin, President. <br />Those present as follows: <br /> <br />Barbara Santoro <br />Jennifer Stokes <br />Marilyn Cathcart <br />Dan Martin <br />Lisa Greening <br />Tom McCarthy <br />Daniel Talon <br />Calla Smorodin <br />Julie Bianchi <br />Regina Raineri <br />Claire Hyman <br />Adelia Parker-Castro <br /> <br />Minutes <br /> reviewed and accepted. <br /> <br />Treasurers Report – Lisa Greening <br />Statement passed to members of the Commission. The Sculpture Series continue to hold <br />the final fifty-dollar ($50) disbursements pending return of yard signs. Washington <br />University has donated five hundred dollars ($500) for the Sculpture series. There is <br />$100 outstanding for the Returning Artist Program. Lisa explains that the Darwin <br />Portman Fund is used for the Returning Artist Program. Calla Smorodin, President then <br />discussed the history of the Darwin Portman Fund and its disbursements. A report has <br />been sent to members of the Commission via e-mail. Calla further pointed out that <br />money for Movies, Sculpture Series, etc. should come through Tom (the University City <br />Budget). <br /> <br />Staff Liaison - Tom McCarthy <br />The Regional Arts Commission sent $2,300 for next year’s Sculpture Series. <br />The Mayor will notify the Commission when the selection process is complete for the <br />new Council Liaison. <br />After June 30, 2008, there will no longer be a marketing department for the city of <br />University City. This information reported to Tom by Monica McFee. Therefore, the <br />Arts and Letters Commission needs a standard list of Activities; each commission, each <br />city department must now do their own marketing. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Starlight Movie Series – Chairperson, Jennifer Stokes <br />Presented a flyer for the 2008 season to the Commission.
