<br />Sculpture Series – Julie Bianchi, Tom McCarthy <br />th <br />A tentative date for the sculpture series is set for February 5. Best in Show will receive the Darwin Portman <br />Award. Calla will speak with the University regarding incorporating the Lion theme into student work to <br />comply with the city’s 100 year anniversary of the Lion Gates. Julie will provide the press release once the date <br />is finalized. <br /> <br />Sculpture outside of Centennial Commons is almost complete. <br /> <br />Next A & L meeting tentatively scheduled to take place at Washington University. Tom to verify. <br /> <br />Photo Show – Chairperson - Barbara Santoro <br />th <br />The Photo Show application deadline has been extended to October 16. Currently, there are 50 +/- entries. <br />All entry applications and fees shall be delivered to Centennial Commons, c/o of Tom McCarthy during open <br />hours. The judging will take place on Friday night, 10/17, and on display starting Sunday, 10/19. The Awards <br />Reception will start at 2:00 pm Sunday. Commission members are asked to invite their council members, and <br />provide desserts and / or drinks for the event. Commissioners are to select 13, plus one alternate photo for the <br />2010 calendar by Monday, 10/20. <br /> <br />Starlight Concert – Co-chairs, Tom McMarthy & Kim Chilton <br />Kim has commitments for four bands and is working on the poster design. The Commission has agreed to <br />pursue corporate sponsorship for each week. <br /> <br />Old Business <br />Lions Gate 100 Year Anniversary – Dan Martin & Tom McMarthy <br />Dan again expressed concern regarding the timing of the Lion Project. This is not an A & L event, but we need <br />a detailed plan before we can agree to being a consultant on the project. The Historical Society needs to raise <br />approximately $60,000 for 20 fiberglass lions. Petree is asking Wash. U. to underwrite the entire amount. <br /> <br />We need to have press release for the sculpture outside of Centennial Commons, with a photo of the artist and <br />the sculpture. <br /> <br />A & L Commissioners are asked to be put on the agenda for the November City Council meeting to explain the <br />Commission’s involvement and achievements for the City. <br /> <br />Calendar photos –Tom McMarthy <br />Adelia photographed the childen’s recycled products artwork and created a collage to be used for the 2009 <br />calendar. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Lisa, Julie and Regina volunteered to make up the committee to nominate the upcoming year’s officers and will <br />meet Tuesday, 10/21.
