<br />ARTS AND LETTERS COMMISSION MINUTES – April 12, 2009 <br />MEETING CALLED TO ORDER at 7:03 p.m. <br />by Barbara Santoro, President. <br /> <br />Commissioners Present: <br />Regina Raineri Excused Absences: <br />Trish Hayes Kim Chilton <br />Barbara Santoro Dan Martin <br />Julie Bianchi <br />Calla Smorodin <br />Marilyn Cathcart <br />Claire Hyman Others Present: <br />Lisa Greening Terry Crow, City Counsel member <br />Adelia Parker-Castro Tom McCarthy, Liaison, City <br />Jennifer Stokes <br />Diane Davenport <br /> <br />March ’09 Meeting Minutes <br />Minutes were approved per revisions. <br /> <br />Treasurers Report – Lisa Greening <br />Lisa Greening discussed and the distributed financial statement for the previous month. <br /> <br />Councilmember’s Report – Terry Crow <br /> <br /> <br />City employees pensions have lost money, similar to all retirement funds / <br />investments. <br /> <br /> <br />City is losing tax money due to fluctuating utility costs (gas, etc.). <br /> <br /> <br />Terry distributed a handout with counsel member, Ricci’s, questions regarding <br />city spending. <br /> <br /> <br />May 14 is the city insurance benefits and compensation working budget session. <br /> <br /> <br />Budget already making account for $1.3 – 1.0 million deficit. <br /> <br /> <br />Terry encourages the commissioners to email with non-political questions / <br />concerns to city counsel members. <br /> <br />Staff Liaison’s Report – Tom McCarthy <br /> <br /> <br />Lions committee – 9 artists and 2 alternates have been chosen to participate in <br />decorating the lions for the Centennial celebration. The lions have been <br /> <br />delivered, see web site for lion locations. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Sculpture Series – Julie Bianchi, Tom McCarthy <br /> <br /> <br />Nude woman sculpture is currently on display outside of coffee house on Delmar. <br /> <br /> <br />R.A.C. was very impressed by traveling art. <br /> <br /> <br />Eric will be returning to Washington U. next year. <br /> <br /> <br />
