<br />Meeting date: November 9, 2010 Called to Order at: 7:00 P. Julie Bianchi, Claire Hyman, Adelia Castro <br />Guests: Joe Edwards, Presentation on the Chuck Berry Statue <br /> Patrick Owens, Great Rivers Greenway Project Manager <br />Absent: Arthur Sharpe, Jr <br /> Minutes from the October meeting are not available. <br />Joe Edwards: This statue concept began with conversations including Brennan and McClellan to honor <br />someone who is still active and a non-sports figure. A University City figure who is still playing BlueBerry <br />Hill is Chuck Berry (the ‘Father of Rock and Roll’). Harry Weber is the sculptor and installation is planned <br />across from BlueBerry Hill sometime in February of 2012. The eight (8) foot tall statue will be placed on <br />pavers containing the lyrics of ‘Johnny Be Good’. Fundraising has been successful ($97K of $100K raised <br />by the fundraising occurring mostly in Illinois and Missouri). Access the website <br />www.chuckberrystatue.com for donation information. <br />Patrick Owens: Presented pictures of the centennial greenway – Forest Park to Delmar, including the <br />Chuck Berry Sculpture Plaza. Patrick answered questions concerning landscape and layout of the plaza <br />concept including a signaling pedestrian crossing. The final product came with the cooperative efforts of <br />Washington University, Ames Place and ParkView. <br />Treasure’s report By: Dan Martin not present. Tom McCarthy handed out the financial report. Noted <br />were the amount for sculpture series: $2500; Photo show: $545 and a question on the photo <br />show/calendar expense of $700 to be answered by Dan; and Returning Artist amount of $2400 to be <br />transferred at a later time. <br />City Council report by: No report, Council member not present. <br />Staff Liaison report by: Tom McCarthy. Working on the 2011 budget.
