December 17, 2009 Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board Meeting
Minutes
In attendance were Board members Ellen Bern, Janet Wilson and Rosalind
Williams. Also in attendance were Bill Hughes and John Temporiti from Hughes
Co., City staff Andrea Riganti and Zack Greatens, and Joe Adams and Shelley
Welsch.
Rosalind Williams opened the meeting at 4 pm. Janet Wilson motioned approval
of the August minutes, Ellen Bern seconded and the motion carried. Andrea
Riganti introduced the Hughes Company staff who presented the results of their
marketing study. The Board gave feedback on the logo and district ideas.
Hughes will present the altered logo at an upcoming meeting.
The Board agreed that U. City should ask Olivette to hold off on the shared
signage at the 170/Olive exchange. We are interested but want to consider other
options on location, verbage and style.
Andrea Riganti will find out the status of the Olive streetscape improvements.
We want to know how much funding is encumbered and how much we can
reallocate because we don’t want to continue this project. Andrea will also
present the request from the Tax Board that part of the $140,000 the City took for
administration should be used to hire a full or part time economic development
person dedicated to the Olive project.
Joe Edwards reported that the Loop SBD would like money for security cameras
and also some funds to keep the cobra overhead lights on in the Loop. The SBD
is paying $3,000 annually to help pay for electricity for the lights.
The meeting adjourned at 5:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Ellen Bern, Board Secretary
