<br /> <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />REGULAR MEETING OF THE PARK COMMISSION <br />June 28, 2005 <br />Heman Park Community Center <br />975 Pennsylvania <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />President Smorodin called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Absent: Charles Moseley, Carl Seltzer <br /> <br />1. Disposition of Minutes of May 24, 2005 <br /> Ms. Irving expressed her displeasure at the May minutes not reflecting her concerns regarding <br />Millar and Rabe Park maintenance issues. <br /> <br />Motioned by: Jerry Fitch (with corrections) Seconded: Livingston Sykes <br />Motion passed <br /> <br />2. Citizens’ comments on items not on Agenda <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel – Thanked commission members on the support and endorsement in <br />returning pool management to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, indicated the <br />pool looks fabulous; expressed concern regarding slippery surface of baby pool-suggested safety <br />strips; expressed concern regarding the re-forestry of Heman Park Pool and suggested Forester, <br />James Crowe, present plans at a future meeting. She also requested conventional pool loungers <br />be considered for purchase. <br /> <br />Commission members requested re-forestry of Heman Park pool be placed on July agenda for <br />discussion; would also like presentation by Forester, James Crowe. <br /> <br />3. Council Liaison Report (Francine Brungardt-arrived at 6:50 pm) <br /> (Commission member Doyle Mitchell arrived at 6:51 pm) <br /> <br /> Participating in City Clerk interviews <br /> <br /> Council managing a number of changes <br /> <br /> Organizing events and budgetary decisions regarding Centennial celebration <br /> -hiring events coordinator <br />-Ms. Brungardt writing a resolution that council members coming up for re-election <br />cannot be showcased during centennial events <br /> <br /> Sculptures approved for both Centennial Commons and Lewis Park <br /> <br /> University City Dog Park received $10,000 grant <br /> <br /> Has visited Heman Park Swimming Pool; appreciates all of the hard work by staff <br /> <br /> Barbara Santoro has been appointed to Arts & Letters; other commission openings <br />available <br /> <br /> Has taken a tour of City Hall; please to see how things are advancing <br /> <br />4. Soccer Association Fees <br /> Motion by Evelyn Irving Seconded: James Sutton <br /> Motion passed <br /> <br /> <br />5. Individual Park Reports <br /> (Commission member Mary Hart arrived at 7:04 pm) <br /> <br /> Jerry Fitch assigned Ruth Park <br /> <br /> Livingstone Sykes assigned Mooney Park <br /> <br /> Evelyn Irving – Millar Park: area near pavilion needs re-seeding; inquired about the <br />replacement of removed play structures; indicated Millar and Rabe Park maintenance <br />concerns expressed last month are still prevalent. <br /> <br />
