<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />July 24, 2007 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President James Sutton called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Mary Hart, Vice President <br />Caryn St Clair Arthur Sharpe Jr., Council Liaison <br />Karen Dille Nancy E MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />Livingstone Sykes Tracy Collins, Department Liaison <br />Linda Peoples Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent <br />John Sterbenz <br />Karen Palmer <br />Jerry Fitch <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from June 26, 2007 <br />Ms. St Clair motioned to accept minutes with corrections; Mr. Sterbenz second, motion <br />passed. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />Richard Dockett of 6844 Crest: Requested Park Commission recommends naming the <br />Millar Park walking path after Betty L Thompson. Ms. MacCartney said that this would <br />be put on the September agenda; she needed to do some research. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br />Mr. Sharpe reported: Back to School Event; City Scape combined with Recreation <br />Guide; Loop in Motion; Code Enforcement meeting; Mosquito control by St Louis <br />County; Trolley; Home Builders <br /> <br />Non Resident Daily Fee Access to Heman Pool <br />Ms. MacCartney explained, during the budgeting process staff developed a list of <br />potential budget cuts and revenue enhancements, the City Manager reviewed the list <br />and presented the recommendations to Council. Policy on non resident access to <br />Heman Pool was part of Council’s deliberations, even though it was not recommended <br />by the City Manager. Council referred the non resident use policy back to the Park <br />Commission. After a discussion, Ms Palmer motion to keep the policy as currently <br />written; Ms. St Clair second, a vote was taken, four in favor, one against and four <br />abstained, motion passed. After the vote Park Commission felt uncomfortable making <br />the recommendation separate from the issue of non residents being able to purchase a <br />pool season pass. <br /> <br />Municipal Grant – Round #8 <br />Ms. MacCartney gave an overview of the options (Teaching Center/Driving Range or <br />Flynn Park Tennis Courts) and a brief discussion Ms Hart recommended the submittal of <br />Municipal Grant application for the development of the Teaching Center/Driving <br />Range at Ruth Park Golf Course; Ms Dille second, vote unanimous. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
