<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />May 22, 2007 <br />Ruth Park Golf Course <br /> <br />President James Sutton called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Caryn St Clair Arthur Sharpe Jr., Council Liaison <br />Jerry Fitch Nancy E MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />Livingstone Sykes Tracy Collins, Department Liaison <br />Charles Mosley Tom McCarthy, Assistant Recreation Superintendent <br />John Sterbenz <br />Linda Peoples <br />Mary Hart <br />Karen Palmer <br /> <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from April 24, 2007 <br />Ms. St Clair motioned to accept minutes with corrections; Mr. Fitch second, motion <br />passed. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />None <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br />Mr. Sharpe reported: Budget meetings continue; Gates Worthy Project approved; <br />Overtime solved; I-64 Project Traffic; Red Light Cameras to be installed <br /> <br />Budget Recommendations <br />Ms. MacCartney gave commission members an overview of budget recommendation <br />given by the department to City Manager. She briefly described each one and <br />explained how it will help the budget. <br /> <br />Golf Teaching Center Study <br />Ms. MacCartney showed commission members the area in which the proposed <br />teaching center would be, she passed out handout; Teaching Center budget <br />overview; Budget History; she also gave a handout discussing the needs to generate <br />enough money for capital development and equipment purchase, for operational cost <br />and to generate a net surplus; funding options and Agreement stipulations. <br /> <br />Portable Stage Rental Fee <br />Ms. MacCartney gave a brief overview of memo explaining the error in the fee chart <br />submitted at the February 27, 2007 meeting. Mr. Mosley motion to change the rental <br />fee back to $700, Mr. Sterbenz second; vote unanimous, motion passed. <br /> <br />Youth Fitness Area <br />Mr. McCarthy gave an overview of the area, equipment and cost for the developing <br />youth fitness area. After a brief discussion, Mr. Sterbenz motion to recommend proposal <br />to Council; Ms. St Clair second, vote unanimous, motion passed. <br /> <br />
