Regular Meeting of the Park Commission City of University City May 22, 2007 Ruth Park Golf Course President James Sutton called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Others present were: Caryn St Clair Arthur Sharpe Jr., Council Liaison Jerry Fitch Nancy E MacCartney, Director of Parks Livingstone Sykes Tracy Collins, Department Liaison Charles Mosley Tom McCarthy, Assistant Recreation Superintendent John Sterbenz Linda Peoples Mary Hart Karen Palmer Disposition of Minutes from April 24, 2007 Ms. St Clair motioned to accept minutes with corrections; Mr. Fitch second, motion passed. Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda None Council Liaison Report Mr. Sharpe reported: Budget meetings continue; Gates Worthy Project approved; Overtime solved; I-64 Project Traffic; Red Light Cameras to be installed Budget Recommendations Ms. MacCartney gave commission members an overview of budget recommendation given by the department to City Manager. She briefly described each one and explained how it will help the budget. Golf Teaching Center Study Ms. MacCartney showed commission members the area in which the proposed teaching center would be, she passed out handout; Teaching Center budget overview; Budget History; she also gave a handout discussing the needs to generate enough money for capital development and equipment purchase, for operational cost and to generate a net surplus; funding options and Agreement stipulations. Portable Stage Rental Fee Ms. MacCartney gave a brief overview of memo explaining the error in the fee chart submitted at the February 27, 2007 meeting. Mr. Mosley motion to change the rental fee back to $700, Mr. Sterbenz second; vote unanimous, motion passed. Youth Fitness Area Mr. McCarthy gave an overview of the area, equipment and cost for the developing youth fitness area. After a brief discussion, Mr. Sterbenz motion to recommend proposal to Council; Ms. St Clair second, vote unanimous, motion passed.
