<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />November 24, 2009 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:34p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Robert Wagner Nancy MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />Karen Dille Rivian Robinson, Department Staff Liaison <br />John Sweeney Julie Feier, City Manager <br />Mary Hart <br />Linda Peoples <br />Caryn St. Clair <br />Jerry Fitch <br /> Karen Palmer <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from October 27, 2009 <br />October minutes reviewed. Motion made and seconded to approve minutes. All in agreement. President Sykes <br />approved minutes. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />No citizens present. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />th <br />Mr. Wagner gave the following report. Report submitted. At their November 16 meeting two appointments <br />were approved: Jack Breier appointed to Urban Forestry Commission, and John Douglas was appointed to the <br />Library Board. Deborah Arbogast was sworn in to the Library Board. U. City awarded Federal government grant <br />to build a new fire station located at Vernon and Westgate Ave. Contractor, Arch Images was approved to design <br />the station pending working out some contract details. Firefighting and EMS department will move from its <br />current location adjacent to City Hall into the new building and the surplus space will be used to expand the <br />facilities for use by the Police Department. Ms. MacCartney’s new policies were presented and approved by <br />Council. It was noted in the meeting that these policies have been thoroughly reviewed by this Park Commission, <br />where some revisions were suggested. Question raised regarding Fire District. City Manager answered and <br />explained in detail. <br /> <br />Department Report <br /> <br />Rain Pond at Ruth Park Golf Course is completed. Needs touch ups due to weather delay. Still need rock in the <br />forbay and do some planting. Will leave sodding up to Grounds Superintendant. Munie Grant is in, we got points <br />and our grant scored 23 points for the Flynn Park Tennis Courts. Next year we will try for grant for Flynn Park <br />maintain the <br />playground since the school uses the playground and we area and Flynn will be losing the dry <br />PTO <br />recess area due to addition/renovation. Will be working with to make it an all inclusive playground by <br />th <br />ADA guidelines. There will be another tee on the 8 hole of golf course. We have a new summer camp site at <br />to replace the Flynn site which will be closed <br />Holy Communion at no cost for the 2010 Summer Camp season <br />for school renovation. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br />haspark. <br />Currently no representative for Flynn Park, John Sweeney volunteered for this <br /> <br /> Fogerty/Greensfelder <br />- Field looked nice <br /> Lewis/Majerus/Metcalf/Flynn- <br />Working with Ewald to resolve drainage issue at Majeriswhere paved trail is <br />washing out. Metcalf is very wet, but looks good. Lewis is in very good condition. Flynn has new lion and there <br />is new sculpture in front of school. <br />Heman-Park <br /> – All looked good prior to two weeks ago. <br /> <br />
