<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />February 24, 2009 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:31p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Caryn St Clair Nancy MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />Karen Palmer Rivian Robinson, Department Staff Liaison <br />Karen Dille Lynda Euell-Taylor, Rec. Superintendent <br />Mary Hart <br />John Sterbenz <br />Linda Peoples <br />Robert Wagner <br />Excused Absence: <br /> Jerry Fitch, John Sweeney <br /> <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from January 27, 2009 <br />January minutes reviewed. Mr. Sterbenz motion to approve, Ms. Peoples seconds, all in agreement. President <br />Sykes approved minutes. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />No citizens present. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner reports at last council meeting 2 new boards & commission members were sworn in. He also reports <br />an ordinance was approved to rename part of Leland Ave. in honor or Sgt. Mike King. Three bills were <br />introduced to be put on August ballot. Ben Yavitz, a school teacher questioned recycling practices in U. City. <br />st <br />Council member Michael Glickert announced a U. City woman celebrated her 101 birthday and also voiced <br />concerns about Heman Park Pool opening times. Copy of report was given to secretary and will be available to <br />public. <br /> <br />Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Fees and Charges <br />Fees and charges were reviewed and discussed. Questions regarding Summer Camp, Scholarships, and soccer <br />fees were asked and answered. Ms. St. Clair moves fees and charges be accepted with corrections. Mr. Sterbenz <br />seconds. Vote taken and all are in favor. <br /> <br />Department Report <br />Ms. MacCartney reported on: <br /> <br /> Pool Entrapment Law. Inspection has been done on Heman Park Pool and we are awaiting written report. <br />When report is received it will be submitted to St. Louis County for approvals to do work needed. <br /> <br /> Decision to open pool on schedule in May will be determined in May based on status of repairs and <br />completion of work. <br /> <br /> Golf Course Club House repairs are being started. There are several changes in the making. <br /> <br /> Brochure Mailing had a setback caused by post office so several were not delivered as planned. U. City <br />has begun putting efforts in place so this does not happen again. Apologies were extended. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br />Ruth Park Golf Course <br /> –Mr. Fitch is absent- no report, <br /> <br />Millar <br /> – Park is in good condition <br /> <br />Rabe and Ackert <br /> - No report at this time <br /> <br />Kaufman <br /> –No report at this time. <br /> <br />Mona Terrace <br /> - No report at this time <br /> <br />
