<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />January 27, 2009 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:36p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Jerry Fitch Nancy MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />Karen Palmer Rivian Robinson, Department Staff Liaison <br />Karen Dille Lynda Euell-Taylor, Rec. Superintendent <br />James Sutton <br />John Sterbenz <br />Linda Peoples <br />Robert Wagner <br />John Sweeney <br />Absent: <br /> Caryn St Clair, Mary Hart <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from November 25, 2008 <br />Corrections made under Nominating Committee Report to read Livingston Sykes was asked…, President Sykes <br />approved minutes with correction, all members in agreement. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />Specifics clarified and explained as to citizens making comments: General comments regarding anything NOT on <br />the agenda are made after disposition of minutes and citizen comments on items on the agenda are to be made <br />during the meeting as the agenda item is addressed with citizens comment prior to Commission discussion and <br />action. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />Briefing 1 <br />Mr. Wagner reports on 3 informational briefings. was regarding the annual financial report being <br />Briefing 2 <br />approved with an unqualified opinion. was regarding Joylynn Wilson’s State of the District Report. <br />Briefing 3 <br /> was regarding the Parks’ Master Plan and the process used to create it. Mr. Wagner reports that 3 <br />ordinances were approved and there was a discussion of a Traffic Commission recommendation to the council. <br />Copies of his report will be available. Mr. Wagner reports the discussion on Loop curfew was delayed again. <br /> <br />Additional Winter-Spring 2009 Programs <br />Intermediate Yoga is priced higher due to it being a 2 day program. Programs are requested, revamped, or added <br />to as needed. Mr. Fitch moves new programs be accepted, Mr. Sterbenz seconds. Special Golf promotions are <br />discussed, and changes suggested, amendments made. Mrs. Dille moves to accept special golf programs as <br />amended/revised. Ms. Peoples seconds. <br /> <br />Department Report <br />Ms. MacCartney reported on: <br /> <br /> New climbing wall installed at Centennial Commons has had a very positive impact on patrons of all <br />ages. <br /> <br /> Pool Entrapment Law went into effect in mid December. Will monitor closely and make determination of <br />opening date on Memorial Day based on findings. <br /> <br /> Question on increase in membership numbers for Centennial Commons for December. Increase is <br />probably due to patrons being able to get 2008 rates if renew before Jan. 31, 2009. Lynda and Nancy will <br />review. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br />th <br />Ruth Park Golf Course <br /> –Rain Shelter is complete and looks good on 6 hole but the new drinking <br />fountain will be turned on in the spring, <br /> <br />
