<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />May 26, 2009 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:31p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Robert Wagner Nancy MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />Karen Palmer Rivian Robinson, Administrative Secretary <br />Karen Dille <br />Jerry Fitch <br />John Sweeney <br />Absent: Mary Hart,Caryn St. Clair <br />Excused Absence: Linda Peoples, Rivian Robinson, John Sterbenz <br />Disposition of Minutes from April 28, 2009 <br />April minutes reviewed. Motion made and seconded to approve minutes. All in agreement. President Sykes <br />approved minutes. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />No citizens present. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner gave the following report. Report submitted. Thursday May 13 public study session devoted to the <br />budget. All U. City Department Directors present to answer budget questions. Council members Wagner and <br />Price submitted a joint recommendation for the budget which if adopted will eliminate the 1.3 million dollar <br />st <br />deficit and provide surplus. Good feedback received. Final hearing to be June 1. Final approval will be <br />th <br />Monday June 15. Also, Louise Huffman was approved to serve on the Public Library Board of Directors at City <br />th <br />Council meeting on May 18. Council approved grant application of Mo. Highway Safety Program submitted by <br />Chief Charles Adams targeting aggressive drivers in U. City. Grant will allow extra overtime for our police for <br />surveillance and make our streets safe. <br /> <br />Department Report <br />Ms. MacCartney reported on: <br /> <br /> Driving Range reopened on Friday after regrading and sodding. Even after 2 ½ inches of rain <br />things are fine. <br /> <br /> Pool Entrapment Law- Requirements for law were completed on the baby pool. Executive <br />decision made to fill large pool and drain covers will be replaced in September. <br /> <br /> Pool opened on Memorial Day as planned and was opened and closed intermittently due to <br />rain but all went smoothly. <br /> <br /> Community Center had error in revenue numbers and replacement sheets are available. <br /> <br /> Centennial Commons is stabilizing in memberships. Because of fee increase Day camp <br />numbers are a bit lower but minimums are being reached and registration has been extended <br />to ongoing. <br /> <br /> Park Commission meeting in June will be for the Parkview Gardens Park planning public <br />meeting. If there is anything that needs to go on an agenda there will be space available for <br />Park Commission to meet and conduct business, however, it is requested that everyone be <br />included in the public meeting. <br /> <br /> Golf Course revenues compared from April 2008 to April 2009 are higher. Range is doing <br />well. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
