Regular Meeting of the Park Commission City of University City November 23, 2010 Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm. Other members present were: Karen Dille Nancy MacCartney, Director Jerry Fitch Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith Tom McCarthy, Asst. Recreation Superintendent Karen Palmer Linda Peoples John Sweeney Excused Absence: William Field, Caryn St. Clair Absent: Lynn Ricci, Council Liaison Disposition of Minutes from October 26, 2010 Minutes reviewed. Ms. Peoples moved to approve minutes with corrections, Ms. Palmer seconded. Vote taken: all approved. Disposition of Minutes from Special Meeting – November 18, 2010 Minutes reviewed. Ms. Palmer moved to approve minutes, Ms. Gaines-Beckwith seconded. Vote taken: all approved, two abstentions: Mr. Fitch, Ms. Dille. Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda – None Council Liaison Report - None Election of Officers Ms. Palmer reported Mr. Sweeney accepted the nomination of President for the Park Commission and indicated Ms. Dille would like to step down as Vice President. Ms. Palmer was placed on the slate as Vice President nominee and Ms. Palmer accepted. Mr. Fitch moved to approve the nominations, Ms. Peoples seconded. Ms. Gaines-Beckwith moved to accept the slate as presented by the nominating committee. Ms. Peoples seconded. Vote taken: All in favor, one abstention (Mr. Sweeney) – Motion passed. Department Report Ms. MacCartney reported on the following:  Park Commission recommendations for NonResident Use of Heman Pool and Picnic Pavilions have been sent to be included in upcoming Council packets.  Working extensively on HUD/DOT grant and application for Parkview Gardens study. Ms. Peoples suggested updating monthly report template – former employee’s name is still indicated. Ms. Palmer raised a question regarding soccer rental hours.
