SESSION 1739

MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL

DECEMBER 16, 1998

At a special meeling of the City Council of University City held in the second floor
conference room of City Hall on Wednesday, December 16, 1998, Mayor Joseph L.
Adams called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. The following members of the Council
were present:

Mayor Joseph L. Adams
Mr. Robert Wagner
Mr. Larry Lieberman
Mr. Paul E. Schoomer
Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr.

Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff, Assistant City Manager Gregory
Rose, Planning Dicector Lehman Walker and City Engineer Tim Moffitt.

Representatives o',: the Missouri Department of Motor Carriers and Railread Safety
(MCRS) briefed the Council on their involvement with MetroLink. MCRS is responsible
for safety at traffic ~,rossings only. The MetroLink construction at the intersection at
Millbrook and Big I?,end would have to be approved by MCRS. The amount of motor
and pedestrian traffic would determine the number of safety processes that would be
required with the MetroLink construction. An extremely high amount of traffic, could
require that MetroLink be constructed underground at this point.

Oppositions or appeals are heard by an independent administrative law judge that is
appointed by the Governor to hear these types of cases. MCRS assured Council that
the City's voice would definitely be heard in this case.

The meeting adjour,~ed at 9:30 a.m.

~/Lbisha K. Meine, City Clerk
