.

.

Minutes - Plan Commission
Page 5
May 23, 1990

delivery personnel parking in back or in front of the Center
presented no difference in parking congestion; parking in front may
eliminate some of the specific problems presented at the rear.
Several members agreed.

Chairperson Kreishman asked if any members of the public had
comments or questions about Pizza Hut's application. Ms. Augustine
Porter of 1220 Eastover Avenue expressed her concern for the
traffic that would be created by the Center's customers in the area
immediate to the Center. She had no specific comments about Pizza
Hut and didn't know who the other business tenants would be, but
wondered who she would consult if she did have complaints about the
traffic. Mr. Goldman suggested that she contact the City Manager
if any problems arose and he could put the matter on the agenda of
the Traffic Commission. Mr. Goldman assured Ms. Porter that the
State Highway Department had reviewed the plans for the shopping
center when it was first proposed, and advised the developers about
proper location of the entrance off Olive Boulevard. He also
explained about the reconfiguration of the entrance on Mount Olive
in order to meet traffic safety standards. As no other person was
present to speak at the public hearing, the Chairperson declared
the public hearing closed.

After a brief amount of discussion which included Mr. Hentzen's
request that the Commission consider revision of the Planning
Staff's first recommended condition, Mr. Safe moved that the Plan
Commission recommend approval of Pizza Hut's application for
Conditional Use Permit #283 subject to the following conditions:

1. Delivery service employees shall use the Mount
Olive Avenue entrance/exit when making and
returning from deliveries.

2. The operator shall regularly police the site and
area adjacent to the restaurant to remove litter
generated by the business.

The motion was seconded by Mr. Foxworth and passed by a vote of 6-
o.

OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. Goldman gave Commission members a brief report on Planning
items considered by the City Council at its last meeting including
the public hearing held on the proposed rezoning of the Famous Barr
site and other property at the Clayton border along Forsyth
Boulevard.
