<br />.. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PLAN COMMISSION <br />Minutes <br />June 17, 1993 <br /> <br />The Plan Commission held its special meeting in the E.O.C. room located in the basement at <br />City Hall, 6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, Missouri on June 17, 1993. The meeting <br />commenced at 5:35 p.m. with Vice Chairperson Ratner presiding. <br /> <br />Voting Members Present <br />Andrea Ratner, Vice Chairperson <br />Charles Foxworth <br />Carl Safe <br />Melissa Kreishman <br />Thomas E. Kahn <br />Mickey Peniston <br /> <br />Voting Members Absent <br />Stephen P. Marsh, Chairperson <br /> <br />Council Member Present: Mary Schuman, Council Liaison <br />Staff present: Al Goldman, Director of Planning and Frank B. Hill, Zoning Administrator <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Ratner stated that the Commission would now consider approval of the minutes <br />from the May 26, 1993 meeting. Ms. Kreishman moved for approval of the May 26, 1993, <br />minutes. The motion was seconded by Mr. Kahn and passed by a vote of 6 - O. <br /> <br />Hearing for Designation as an Historical Landmark of the Beverly / Fine Arts Theater, <br />7740 Olive <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Ratner informed those present that the Plan Commission had scheduled the <br />meeting on an application from the Historic Preservation Commission (hereafter "HPC") for <br />designation of the Beverly / Fine Arts Theater, 7740 Olive as an historical landmark. Ms. <br />Ratner outlined the Plan Commission's procedures and criteria for reviewing designations of <br />historical landmarks and called for testimony from the applicant. <br /> <br />A letter dated June 15, 1993 from HPC Chairperson, Mary Henderson Gass was presented to <br />members of the Commission and becomes part of this record by reference. <br /> <br />Eslie Hamilton, 7346 Balson, appeared on behalf of the HPC. Mr. Hamilton gave an overview <br />of the report and bill proposal submitted by the HPC. He stated that the landmark status would <br />only encompass the facade of the building, not the building itself. Mr. Hamilton stated that the <br />building has been on the HPC map of eligible sites for historic designation since 1981. It is <br />recognized by the St. Louis County and City Historic Buildings Commission survey of Art Deco <br />Buildings done in 1987. <br />
