Date: May 9, 2003.

To: Members of the Traffic Commission

From: Mariela Tapia, Secretary of the Traffic Commission.

Re: May Traffic Commission Meeting

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Traffic Commission is Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at
CONFERENCE ROOM (Room 6) at the Second Floor of the City Hall
6:30 p.m. in the
building
.

AGENDA FOR THE MEETING

1. Intersection Alanson and Golf Course Drive

We received several requests for this intersection. Attached are Traffic Request Forms
submitted by Louise M. Nicholson dated April 1, 2003, Juanita Keys dated April 8, 2003, and
Diane Emery dated April 12, 2003.

Mrs. Nicholson is requesting a 4 way stop signs.
Ms. Keys is requesting to stop the traffic on Alanson (between Old Bonhomme and Old
Bonhomme) and to replace the yield signs on Golf Course Dr. with stop signs.
Ms. Emery is requesting stop signs to slow traffic on Alanson or 4 yield signs.

At this intersection, exists yield signs on Golf Course Dr at Alanson Dr. The speed limit for the
area is 25 mph. See sketch attached.

Three of them stated the following:

1.There were a large number of accidents at that intersection because people don’t pay
attention to the yield signs on Golf Course and there is no sign for Alanson and therefore,
people speed thru.

2. The speed of traffic at this intersection must be slowed down and drivers must pay
attention to crossing traffic.

3.The traffic on Alanson often is speeding; the yield signs on Golf Course are often
ignored. The Golf Course corner are semi-blind.

On the last three years, have been 4 accidents on that intersection. There were due to drivers
failing to obey the yield signs.

Is the recommendation of the Engineering Division to deny the requests and recommend leaving
the existing signs with no changes.

1
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\agenda\2003\Agenda 05-14-03.doc
