JANUARY, 2005 Re: Traffic Commission Meeting th The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Traffic Commission is Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at EOC Room 6:30 p.m. in the in the Basement of the City Hall annex building. Below is a copy of the agenda for the meeting. Please call Sandy Weinberg at 862-6767, ext. 260, and advise her if you will not be attending the meeting. AGENDA FOR THE MEETING 1.Stop signs at University City High School This request was submitted by Beth Bender, Principal of University City High School. She is requesting that the stop sign (along Balson) next to the stadium be moved EAST to the main walkway from UCHS to the Parking lot intersection at Jackson Park. Presently, there is a 2-way Stop intersection on Balson and the entrance to the stadium (please find sketch attached). It is the recommendation of the Engineering Division that the stop signs should be removed from this location and installed as follows: ? For eastbound traffic, a stop sign on Balson at the entrance of Jackson Park Parking lot ? For westbound traffic, a stop sign on Balson at the existing crosswalk between the School building and the Jackson Park parking lot. 2.Parking restriction for Lafon, Maple view, Teasdale and West view drive Please find attached petition letter from Joan Botwinick, Chair of the University View Neighborhood Association. She is requesting to have parking restricted to residents and their guests between 12 noon and 9 p.m. every day for the streets of Lafon, Mapleview, Teasdale and West view. Attached are the signatures of most of the residents. nd She states that this has become necessary due to the September 22 decision of the Clayton School District to enlarge Gay Field. th Changing the hours in the parking restriction for Lafon was presented in the November 10, traffic commission meeting and at that moment the commissioners decided to wait for the lights on Gay field to be installed. The commissioners will do a recommendation based on the identified problems due to the field lights. There is no way to know NOW what harm will result without the lights being there.
