Page 2 - Agenda
October 11, 2006

The city recommends that we do not add a four way stop sign at this intersection. The police
department should monitor and enforce the new intersection signage.

2.Safety concerns for the intersection of Olive and Mt. Olive.

The City was requested to analyze the existing trees along the north side of Olive just
east of the intersection of Olive and Mount Olive. The concern is that when traveling
southbound that the trees are blocking view of traffic when turning on to Olive.

Since this request came forth; the City has implemented the following to improve the safety of
this intersection.
A.The City installed a no parking sign 25 feet along Mt. Olive until the intersection with

Olive. This should give drivers more room to see oncoming traffic and more area to
make there turns.

The city recommends that the commissioners do a site investigation and decide whether the
trees should stay or be removed.

3.Concerns regarding the safety of Washington University students crossing

Forest Park Parkway.

For your information, please find attached a letter from Garry Earls, Acting Director of
St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic, to Honorable Kurt Odenwald,
Chairman of St. Louis County Council.

4.Approval of Minutes for September 13, 2006 meeting

If you have any question, please call me at 314-505-8562

Thank you.

Cc: Evelyn Shields-Benford, Director of Public Works
Major Ernest Green, Police Department
Lehman Walker, Director of Planning Department
Robert Wagner, Council Liaison

2
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\agenda\2006\Agenda 10-11-06.doc
