Mr. Wilson represents American Water Treatment Inc. located at 6324
Bartmer Industrial Drive. He is requesting that a “no parking” area be established
along one side of East Park Industrial Drive (from Olive to Bartmer) and along one side
of Bartmer Industrial Drive (from East Park Ind. Dr. to Sutter). He is also requesting
that a stop sign be installed at northbound East Park Industrial Drive at Bartmer Ind.
Drive. The area requested for “no parking” is shown in the picture attached to the
traffic request.

Mr. Wilson states that the “Food Search Company” vehicles and customers line up on
East Park Industrial Drive, Bartmer Industrial Drive and Sutter Ave. Big tractor trailers
also park on the streets and it difficult to drive on the street.

The Municipal Code states the following:

?Bartmer Industrial Drive: parking is prohibited on the north side thereof on

Wednesday only and on the south side thereof on Monday only, from Sutter
Avenue to the east city limits between the hours of nine a.m. and twelve noon.

?East Park Industrial Drive: parking is prohibited on the east side thereof on

Wednesday only and on the west side thereof on Monday only, from Maple
Avenue to Bartmer Industrial Drive, between the hours of nine a.m. and twelve
noon.

?Bartmer Industrial Drive: parking is prohibited both sides thereof from the

driveway servicing 6324 Bartmer Industrial Drive to a point eighty-five (85) feet
east of the driveway and to a point eighty-five (85) feet west of the driveway.

From a field inspection, we observed that there are no signs installed informing drivers
about the parking restrictions.

The engineering division recommends that signs on Bartmer Industrial Drive and East
Park Industrial Drive be installed regarding: existing parking prohibitions, parking
restrictions from the intersection of curb lines and parking restrictions for fire hydrants.

Once the signs are installed, the area will be patrolled by police, and the Department
will monitor the area to determine the effectiveness of the signs.
2
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\agenda\2006\February's meeting\Agenda 2-8-06.doc
