Please call (314) 505-
8568 to confirm your attendance.

AGENDA FOR THE MEETING

1. Traffic calming on the 7500 block of Shaftesbury Ave

Please find attached traffic request form submitted March 18, 2010 by Mr. Billy Wegener, resident
at 7545 Shaftesbury Ave., requesting remediation through additional monitoring (police radar
presence, preferably during peak hours) and traffic calming engineering measures (speed
cushions) should they be deemed a necessary and effective deterrent.

Mr. Wegener explains that this block is often used as a bypass for motorists traveling north and
south between Delmar Blvd and Olive Blvd, ostensibly to avoid traffic lights. The wide, straight,
open nature of the road further lends itself to higher speeds of traffic than similar, nearby residential
roads.

UCPD will provide speed data collected in the area at the meeting.

Speed cushions or speed bumps are not allowed to be installed on public streets, as they may
damage emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and police cars. They are also an impediment for
the snow plowing process in the winter months.

Shaftesbury Ave. is 1,150 ft long, and there are only two speed limit signs, one at Hanley Rd and
one at North and South Rd., therefore Public Work recommends the installation of speed limit signs
indicating the 25 mph restriction on Shaftesbury Ave. at midblock on both directions.

Traffic calming on the alley at the 6600 block, south of Washington Ave north of
2.
Kingsbury Blvd.

Please find attached traffic request form submitted March 26, 2010 by Ms. Susan Terrill, resident at
6675 Kingsbury Blvd., requesting the following:

a) Installing Speed Limit signs for the alley
b) Monitoring speeds in the alley and issue violations if required
c) For the access to the 520 Kingsland Ave. building parking area to be a one way instead of a
two way access.

Traffic Commission Agenda – April 14, 2010.
